Take 2l Sodabottles, tap a hole into the lid with a nail and a hammer, fill, screw lid on tight and upend into the pot. Those tomatoes are thirsty!

Autumn Tealights

Cheap and cheerful - DIY Cat toy

The parts of this cattoy can be found outside and around the house. You'll need some feathers, string or elastic and some sort of stick or twig to tie the feathers to. Cats go mad for the birdsmells and can't get enough of "hunting" them. This is their favourite kind of toy.

Get ahead for Easter

On a recent walk I cut some willow twigs and put them in a vase at home - pussy willow and Easter go together. I have to keep them on top of the bookshelf until the buds pop, out of the cat's reach, she ran away with the twigs before...

Cover an egg box with pretty paper, fill with chocolate or hardboiled eggs and tie ribbon around it - nice as a present, too.

Prep

I have not been lazy in the last few weeks, although I didn't post anything. I have been collecting cardboard rolls for this years advent calendars and I think I have more than enough now. I also have plain brown wrapping paper, double sided sticky tape and string to tie them with. All I need now is some quiet time to finish them...

I have mentioned before that my daughter loves penguins so when I saw this I immediately thought: Gifttags.

Absolutely free and suitable for Birthdays or Christmas.

Easy Angels



Take a round piece of card or a paper plate and draw your template on it



Cut out the shape around the head and cut along the lines for the wings



Bend back the skirt and staple at the back. Decorate any way you like.

You can poke a hole through the head with a needle to attach some thread, but this angel also stands up all by itself.

Nature

There are decorations that can be found anywhere and don't cost a penny, cones for example. I collect nice ones on walks and carry them home. Dry and clean I could just tie thread around the lower end and hang them up. For a bit of variety they can be brushed with PVA glue (or even eggwhite) and dipped into a bowl of glitter and left to dry. Spraycans of gold or silver colour or fake snow are also a good idea - lay the cones on newspaper and get spraying. Simple.
 For that "forest flavour" I sometimes drip pine essential oil onto them.
