Lanterns

Out of a square piece of transparent paper

a LOT of folding
makes a star lantern.
Pop a tealight inside. Paper coloured with crayons and then oiled looks great as well. I know them as 'Waldorf-Lanterns' and have made lots of them in my time.

Victorian

Take strips of nice paper

and fold them into a globe. Stapel together, add thread to hang up.
You can use any kind of paper for these decorations and add a tassel at the bottom if it is not too heavy.

Wall Art

You need paper, a ruler and scissors or a craft knife (even a sharp needle will do)

Draw  upside down "T"-shapes onto the back of the paper, cut along the lines.

Turn around. Bend the tree-shaped flaps up and cut out little "trunks" at the bottom.

This looks good backlit on a window with white backing paper or in a frame on the wall.

Table stars

Cut stars out of corrugated cardboard, add a strip long enough to fit around a tealightholder and glue on.

Wind some tinsel around it. You can spray the cardboard silver or golden .

3D - Cards

Score a piece of card down the middle.

Fold over, draw your "boxes" onto the side where the card is folded and cut along the horizontal  lines.

Fold up the pieces.

Glue the card into a bigger card and decorate.
You could also use green card and cut out diagonal lines for a Christmas tree - or a snowman, Santa, Rudolph etc. The technique is the same  - as long as a vertical strip stays attached on both sides the middle will pop up.

Gifttags

Card, glue, decorative shapes. Simple. Kits for handmade cards are available in many shops, but it is not difficult to cut out  the cards and decorations. A hole made by a needle and some thread and they're ready to go.
Gifttags can be made out of old Christmascards, parcellabels or any thicker paper in the house.

Oh Tannenbaum

Cut out a stencil from any kind of cardboard lying around the house.

Transfer shape to card stock or thicker paper, cut out and punch a hole through the top.

Repeat.

Thread ribbon or string through the top and use as gift tag, hang from twigs or the tree or pin along the windowsill and cover the pins with ribbon as a garland.
Without the hole at the top (or with lots more of them all over the tree) it can also be used as a card topper.
